So I haven't really posted much about this pregnancy and baby, mostly because I'm used to only posting something when I have a picture about it. I've been really focusing on getting ready for this baby to come (mostly on delivery aspects), so I thought I'd share some of the things that have happened.
With Zachary, I wanted to try to do a natural childbirth, but because of certain circumstances (ie back labor, getting pitocin and having my water broken as soon as I got to the hospital, and not having taken any classes), I decided to opt for the epidural instead. This time around I want to try again, so I've been attempting to prepare myself beforehand. A couple of weeks ago I ordered a program called Hypnobabies. I was too late to actually take the class, but the homestudy course has been awesome so far. It essentially teaches you how to put your body in deep relaxation so that you can work with your uterus muscles instead of against them. It also helps change some negative thinking habits and has really helped to change my overall outlook on having a baby. There are relaxation CD's that I'm supposed to listen to every day, and I've really started to look forward to doing them because it feels so good!!
Just as I was really getting into the whole Hypnobabies thing, however, my doctor told me that my baby was breech. He said that by 35 weeks, the baby most likely won't turn on her own and I may end up with a C-section. He told me that the only thing I could do was an External Cephalic Version, which is where a doctor will manually push your baby into position, but this is very painful and only has about a 50% success rate. Needless to say, I was really frustrated and scared by the time my appointment was over! I came home and immediately started looking up anything else that I could do to help her turn, and found out that there actually are other options. One of my friends told me about going to a chiropractor and having the Webster technique done, which is where they relax certain muscles so that the baby has an easier time turning. I scheduled an appointment right away and had it done yesterday, and I think the baby may possibly have moved already. I can't really tell for sure, but I have another doctor's appointment on Monday and he should be able to tell me. If she hasn't turned, then I'll go back and have the technique done again, and just keep praying that she'll turn because I really, really don't want a C-section!! I don't know what it is, but that scares me way more than many hours of labor.
Anyway, that's mainly what I've been up to, other than chasing around a very active 2 year old. I haven't bought very many girl things yet, so I guess that should be next on my agenda. I think I got the idea in my head that since I've already had a baby I don't really need anything else, but that's not actually the case, so next week may see me frantically shopping!! I am starting to get really excited about welcoming this baby into our family (and yes, not being pregnant anymore!!!), and it'll be here before we know it!!
